Debris Removal

Regularly clearing leaves, twigs, and dust is a must for keeping your lawn looking great. With synthetic grass, this can be as easy as blowing it off with a leaf blower or the occasional spray with a garden hose. This can be done once a week or so. If you have a lot of trees or vegetation this may need to be slightly more frequent.

The Secret to an Upright Look

When new artificial turf in installed, infill (usually silica sand) is forced down into the fibers of the grass using a power broom. Over time high-traffic areas might become matted, and usually this can be addressed with a plastic rake or a stiff-bristled broom. Brush against the grain to bring the turf more upright. This is usually more effictive when the turf is warm. To fully revitalize heavily matted areas, a rental power broom and some additional infill might be needed.

Pet Waste Management

Promptly removing and rinsing pet waste keeps your lawn hygienic and fresh. If there are areas that develop odors from continuous pet use, an enzyme cleaner such as PE51 can be safely used. This cleaner is safe around kids and pets and will not damage your turf.

Protecting Against Window Burn

Reflections from windows can increase surface temperature significantly compared to the surrounding ground. This can cause permanent damage to synthetic turf if steps are not taken to minimize this effect. Special window screens are available that will greatly reduce the reflected sunlight and prevent damage to your artificial turf lawn.

A Balanced Approach

If you have areas that you expect high foot traffic, consider stepping stones or stone pathways. This directs foot traffic and will help preserve your turf's natural appearance.

Equipment and Tools

Investing in a few tools will greatly help in maintaining your artificial turf lawn. An electric leaf blower is essential as is a flexible rake or bristle brush. A garden hose is also necessary, and if you have pets it is a good idea to have some PE51 enzyme cleaner to minimize odors.

A Beautiful Lawn Awaits With the right maintenance routine, your artificial turf will remain a beautiful addition to your home, requiring only minimal effort on your part.
